Arrhythmias produce irregular heartbeats and fall into two categories based on pulse and two types predicated by location. Normal heartbeats fall between 60-90 beats per minute, except those who often workout whose normal pulse might be as low as 50 beats per minute. Arrhythmias heartbeats fall below or above the normal range.
When the electrical impulses guiding our heartbeats misfires, our heart flutters, speeds, slows, and otherwise creates an irregular pulse. Arrhythmias range from temporary to constant, harmless to fatal.
If your heartbeat falls below 60 (50 for those who work out), or rises above 90 beats per minute while still, skips a beat, or you experience any other irregular heartbeat, call you doctor. If the symptoms are acute, call 911.
Arrhythmias causes strokes, heart attacks, and sudden death.
